Reduce a PDF to the exact size your application portal accepts.
Pages are saved as images to reach the smaller size, so text in the new file cannot be selected. Works for PDFs up to 40 pages.
Your files are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to our server.

What is a PDF compressor?
A scanned certificate or an application form often becomes a PDF of several MB, but many portals accept only 100 KB, 200 KB or 500 KB. A PDF compressor reduces the file size so that it can be uploaded. Our PDF Compressor lets you type the exact size you need and creates a file that fits under it, whenever that is possible.
Key features
- Enter any target size in KB, and the PDF is compressed to fit under it.
- The tool picks the best quality that still meets your limit instead of crushing the file more than needed.
- Shows the original and compressed sizes side by side.
- Keeps the page size and the page order of your document.
- Free, with no watermark and no registration.
How the compression works
The tool opens your PDF in your browser, draws each page as a picture and saves the pages again as compressed JPEG images inside a new PDF. It tries a good quality first and lowers the quality, and if needed the resolution, step by step until the file fits under your target. Because the pages are saved as pictures, the text in the new PDF cannot be selected or searched. For scanned documents, which are already pictures, this makes no practical difference.
How to compress a PDF to a target size
- Choose your PDF file.
- Type the maximum size you need in KB.
- Press “Compress PDF” and wait while the pages are processed.
- Compare the original and new sizes shown on the screen.
- Press the Download button to save the smaller file.
Is it safe?
Yes. Your PDF never leaves your device. It is opened and compressed inside your own browser, it is not uploaded anywhere and we do not keep any copy. This matters a lot for documents like Aadhaar cards, marksheets and bank papers.
When it works best and when it does not
Compression works best on scanned documents and photos saved as PDF, which can often shrink by 80 to 90 percent. A very long PDF with a very small target may become too blurry to read, and in that case the tool will tell you it cannot reach the size. If your PDF has live text that you want to keep selectable, a text-based compressor is a better choice, but for portal uploads the result from this tool is normally what is needed.
Tips for smaller files
Scan at a normal resolution instead of the highest one, remove blank pages before compressing, and split a long file into two parts if the target is very small. If the portal accepts a JPG, converting a single page to an image can be even smaller.
Frequently asked questions
Why can I not select text in the compressed PDF?
Each page is saved as a picture to achieve the smaller size. This is the trade-off that makes strong compression possible.
Is there a page limit?
The tool handles PDFs up to 40 pages so that it runs smoothly on phones.
What if the tool cannot reach my target?
Try a higher target, or split the document into smaller parts and compress each one.
Will it change the page size?
No. Every page keeps its original size and order.
